The Multi-Use Mail Notification System (MUMP) was a system installed on postal mailboxes at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. It was one of the first multi-use mail systems using visual scanning technology. The MUMP was driven by the Strategic Mail & Media Initiative, which was established by the U.S. Postal Service's National Processing and Production Strategy. The MUMP was designed to increase cost savings by providing a practical method for efficient mail retrieval, recycling, and redistribution. 50e0806aeb garvelly
